Choir Directors
(Catholic Director, Contemporary Worship Director, Gospel Worship Director positions available)
The Catholic Choir Director works in conjunction with the Catholic Chaplain and is responsible to lead the choir and community vocals for Masses and any other liturgical services as directed by the Catholic Chaplain, on Kadena Air Base (AB), Okinawa, Japan.
Choir Musicians/Accompanists
(Catholic Choir, Contemporary Worship, Gospel Worship positions available)
The Catholic Choir Musician works in conjunction with the Catholic Chaplain and shall be responsible for playing piano for Mass and any other liturgical services, as directed by the Catholic Chaplain, on Kadena Air Base (AB), Okinawa, Japan.
Youth Ministry Coordinators
(Catholic Youth Ministry Coordinator & Protestant Youth Ministry Coordinator positions available)
The Catholic Youth Ministry Coordinator works in conjunction with the Catholic Chaplain and shall be responsible for the overall management, logistical support, and program events/activities for the Catholic Youth ministries on Kadena Air Base (AB), Okinawa, Japan.
Religious Education Coordinators
(Catholic Edu. Coordinator & Protestant Edu. Coordinator positions available)
The Catholic Religious Education Coordinator works in conjunction with the Catholic Chaplain and shall be responsible for the overall management, logistical support, and program events/activities for the Catholic Religious Education ministries, Sacramental Preparation, and Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) on Kadena Air Base (AB), Okinawa, Japan.
Requirements
Choir Directors Requirements
- Responsible for music execution for the Masses or Services to include volunteer coordination and training, volunteer background checks, securing base access for choir members, lesson preparation, multimedia planning, leading rehearsals, and any program development elements to provide a respectable Mass experience.
- Responsible for the complete product or service. Must have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to efficiently plan and organize, communicate, and manage diverse program requirements.
- Must read/comprehend, write, and speak English fluently.
- Select and request worship music curriculum/media in accordance with local Chapel policies, Catholic liturgical seasons, and Catholic Church directives on sacred music.
- Ensure all worship music and media used is compliant with copyright laws. Shall not copy materials unless authorized to do so with a copyright license. Shall ensure that copyrighted material is not used illegally.
- Minimum of High School diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Certificate.
- Choir Director must have at least one year experience leading a choir and must be able to read music.
Choir Musicians/Accompanists Requirements
- Must be responsible for playing piano for Mass or Service to include attending rehearsals, preparing service instrument and equipment requirements, and any other program musical playing elements to provide a respectable Mass experience.
- Responsible for the complete end product or service. Must have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to efficiently plan and organize, communicate, and manage diverse program requirements.
- Must read/comprehend, write, and speak English fluently.
- Minimum of High School diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Certificate.
- All Choir Musicians must have minimum one-year experience, must be proficient at playing an instrument (piano/organ), and must be able to read music.
Youth Ministry Coordinators Requirements
- Plans and coordinates programs/events for the youth, which may include weekly worship, Bible study, fellowship, small group, community service projects, youth activities, and other activities.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to efficiently plan and organize, communicate, and manage diverse program requirements.
- Must read/comprehend, write, and speak English fluently.
- Minimum of High School diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Certificate.
- Based on Annual Ministry Plan requirements, local Chaplain Corps Team resourcing and programing, and Catholic Chaplain requirements to meet the needs of chapel parishioners and customers, identify and align core curriculum for the Parish youth ministries. Develop an annual (12-month) calendar of events, Chapel Tithes and Offering Funds (CTOF) budget, and develop a list of appropriated funds (APF) supported items to be submitted to the Catholic Community Coordinator and Chapel Appropriated Funds Manager to be considered for budget approval if required to fund ministries as applicable.
Religious Education Coordinators Requirements
- Responsible for general coordination and enhancement of religious education programs and events. This position shall include religious education program/event administrative and logistical coordination, and any program development elements to provide respectable religious education experiences.
- Is responsible for the complete end product or service. Must have strong written and oral communication skills and be able to efficiently plan and organize, communicate, and manage diverse program requirements.
- Must read/comprehend, write, and speak English fluently.
- Minimum of High School diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Certificate.
- Must plan, resource, and execute the annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) for the Catholic Parish. An after-action report, per local guidance, shall be required upon completion of the event.

Work Schedule
- Choir Directors and Choir Musicians/Accompanists: Twice per week, at 0830 & 1100 for Sunday Mass, plus 13 holidays and obligations.
- Youth Ministry Coordinators: Once per week.
- Religious Education Coordinators: Once per week.
