Assists with planning and executing recreational events, operating facilities, and providing customer service at the Youth Center on Kadena Air Base.

Plans, organizes, and assists in the execution of special events, holiday parties, and recreational programming for youth and community members. Responsible for the opening and closing of the Youth Center and other recreational facilities.

Serves as the primary point of contact for customer service-related incidents, addressing patron concerns, resolving conflicts, and escalating issues to the supervisor when necessary.

Checks equipment and gear in and out; ensures all issued gear is returned, accounted for, and properly stored at the end of each shift.

Operates and oversees laser tag and other special event equipment and activities.

Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of recreational areas to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.

Inspects indoor and outdoor recreational facilities, equipment, and tools to verify general condition and safety compliance.

Reports facility or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor in a timely manner.

Conducts inventory of authorized recreational supplies and equipment on a recurring basis.

Performs minimal administrative duties such as maintaining records, logs, and basic documentation related to facility operations.

Assists with additional duties as assigned to support overall recreational operations.

Qualifying Experience

Must have customer service experience. Ability to safeguard and handle cash is required. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals or groups. Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of maturity and good judgment, and enjoy working with children and parents. Experience must have demonstrated requirement for rigorous attention to detail.

Practical knowledge of basic program, plans, and operation procedures of recreational activities is highly desirable. Skill in the use and maintenance of various recreational equipment and facilities are desirable.

This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Youth Center on Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan.

Additional Information

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.

All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit.

Probationary period may be required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from hiring preferences and priority consideration eligible. Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement for up to 60/90 days after the closing date. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement.

Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. LQA is not authorized. Post Allowance is authorized for Regular Full Time employment category.

This is a Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) position carrying out Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) activities for the Air Force and Space Force.
