Position Details

The AMC Director is responsible for overseeing the coordination, staffing, and operations of the Airmen Ministry Center (AMC) at Kadena Air Base. The role involves managing resources, recruiting and training volunteers, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations in support of the Chapel Corps mission.
Working Conditions
- Core Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week, primarily at the AMC and other Kadena Chapel facilities.
- Operational Hours:
- Tuesday – Thursday: 1700-2200
- Friday: 1700-0000
- Saturday: 1200-0000
- Sunday: 1200-2200
- Note: Hours may vary based on mission requirements and special programs, with adjustments made in consultation with the AMC Chaplain.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Education: Minimum of an Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience: At least one year of experience in a ministerial setting, particularly working with young adults from diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds.
- Skills:
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a pluralistic religious environment.
- Constructive interaction with young adult Airmen, Chapel staff, and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities

Staffing & Resource Management
- Coordinate staffing, resources, and programs for the AMC to ensure efficient operations.
- Recruit, train, and assign volunteers to serve at the AMC and for other Chapel-sponsored events as needed.

Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit and train volunteers to support Chapel events and services.
- Oversee the placement and scheduling of volunteers at the AMC, ensuring sufficient staffing during operating hours.

Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations, including maintaining a clean, welcoming, and safe environment.
- Ensure that volunteers are well-trained to manage operations during AMC operating hours in the Director's absence.
- Adjust the operational schedule in coordination with the AMC Chaplain to accommodate special events or mission requirements.

Collaboration with Chapel Staff
- Work closely with Chapel leadership, staff members, and volunteers to foster a pluralistic and interfaith environment.
- Attend weekly staff meetings and maintain professional communication with Chapel staff and base leadership.
- Ensure timely responses to phone calls (within 1 business day), emails (within 2 business days), and other communications.

- Maintain a professional appearance and conduct, adhering to business casual dress codes during meetings and neat, clean attire during operational hours.
