This position is located at Camp Foster. Candidates selected for this position will serve as an Assistant Youth and Teen Center Director.

Major Duties

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Physical Demands/Work Environment The incumbent is required to have mobility necessary to ensure safety of children and youth and engage in repetitive actions such as walking, standing, bending, stooping, and sitting on the floor. The work involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of a wide variety of child and youth activities, programs, and services, such as exposure to disease or injuries. The incumbent must have the visual and auditory capabilities to supervise children and youth, to comply with sight and sound supervision requirements and to provide immediate responses when applicable. The incumbent must communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing to communicate with CYP team and customers, prepare reports and plans, and document observations. Majority of the work is performed in the CYP facility, including classroom settings, activity areas, and outdoor areas, with occasional indoor and outdoor field trips. Duties may involve working both indoors and outdoors. Classrooms and office areas are adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The incumbent may work an uncommon tour of duty to include evenings and weekends to accommodate varying program operating schedules. Performs Other Duties as Assigned

Requirements

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 18 months' experience working in group programs with children/youth as well as demonstrated knowledge in theories and principals of child/youth development. Experience must demonstrate the ability to lead junior staff in the accomplishment of work.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in youth development, elementary or secondary education, family and consumer science (human development emphasis), special education, or other fields appropriate to the position. Must be able to lift and carry children and objects up to 45lbs independently and over 45lbs with assistance.

OR A combination of education and experience (e.g. courses equivalent to a major in a field (24 higher level semester hours) appropriate to the position (see above) plus appropriate experience or additional course work that that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.

Must be able to obtain and maintain TIER-1 Child Care (CNACI) background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under 18 years of age. Must pass a pre-employment physical and annual physical, thereafter, provide evidence of immunization and be free from communicable disease. Must complete all DoW training requirements within the specified time including orientation, initial, DoW Standardized Module Training, and annual ongoing training requirements, and required certifications, if any. Must maintain current food handlers, CPR and First Aid certifications. May be required to obtain a government driver's license. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and possess strong interpersonal communication skills. Must have the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.

Note: This position is identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent is subject to random drug testing because duties must be performed with a high level of productivity, reliability and judgment to prevent adversely affecting personnel safety, and causing risk/damage to government property, and/or significant adverse impact to day-to-day operations. A positive drug test, or failure to submit for testing, may become the basis for removal from this position.

Child and Youth Program employment incentives:

  • Recruitment Incentive. Upon hire, all regular full-time and regular part-time CYP employees at MCCS Butler are eligible to receive a $500 recruitment incentive which will be disbursed no later than the second pay period of an employee's hire date. This incentive will require a six-month employment commitment. If the employee resigns within the initial six-month period, the incentive payment will be recovered from the employee upon separation. This incentive will be monitored and administered by MCCS NAF Human Resources utilizing enclosure (1) and uploaded to Shared Services Center Japan (SSCJ) via the ConneXion software platform.
  • Retention Incentive. All regular full-time and regular part-time CYP Employees at MCCS Butler will receive an annual $500 retention incentive on the anniversary of their hire date into their CYP position. Employees who transfer from another MCCS location to a CYP position at MCCS Butler will receive the incentive payment on the anniversary of their initial hire date into MCCS Child and Youth Programs. This incentive will be monitored and administered by MCCS Family Care Branch utilizing enclosure (1) and uploaded to SSCJ via the ConneXion software platform.
  • Referral Incentive. All MCCS Butler employees in grades NF-03 (or equivalent grade) and below are eligible for a $100 incentive payment for any referral that results in the hire of a CYP employee at MCCS Butler. This incentive payment will be disbursed once the referred employee completes 180 days in their respective CYP position. The referring employee MUST be named as the referral source in the referred employee's employment application in order to be considered for this incentive. No referrals will be considered retroactively (i.e., after the employment application is completed and submitted). This incentive will be monitored and administered by MCCS Family Care Branch utilizing enclosure (1) and uploaded to SSCJ via the ConneXion software platform.
  • Childcare Subsidy Incentive. All regular full-time and regular part-time CYP employees at MCCS Butler will receive a 100% childcare discount for the first child enrolled in a Child and Youth Program facility. In addition, CYP employees at MCCS Butler will receive a 50% discount for each subsequent child enrolled in a Child and Youth Program facility. This incentive will be monitored and administered by MCCS Family Care Branch.
