About OIST

Responsibilities
We seek technical staff who are expected to have responsibilities on:
- Taking care of experimental animals (birds)
- Maintenance of equipment
- Technical support for experimental projects
- Independent research projects are available depending on the applicant's background and motivation
Requirements
(Required)
- Bachelor or higher degree (background in biology, neuroscience or molecular biology is preferable)
- Communication skills in English or Japanese

Expected Annual Salary: Min 3.0 - Max 6.0 yen
*This amount represents the expected annual salary range for this position, which will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills and background in accordance with the OIST Employee Compensation Regulations.

Job Details
- Job Type: Technician
- Starting Date: As early as possible
- Employment Term: Full-time, fixed term appointment for 1 year/2 years. Contract initially with 3-month probationary period (inclusive). This contract may be renewed.
- Working Hours: 9:00-17:30 (Discretionary)
- Holidays: Saturday, Sunday, National holidays, and Year-end and New Year holidays (Dec. 29 – Jan. 3)
- Leave: Annual Paid Leave, Summer Leave, Sick Leave, and Special Leave
- Overtime work hours: Discretionary Working Hours System: In the discretionary labor system for specialized work, the employee shall be deemed to have worked 7 hours 30 minutes per day.
- Report to: Professor Yoko Yazaki-Sugiyama
