Fire Control Specialist delivers precise, safe, and effective artillery fire support. This contractor role is mission critical and demands technical rigor, sound judgment, and strict adherence to safety standards. The contractor must obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) and a T3 Security Clearance.

This position supports Department of Defense (DoD) production and maintenance operations and requires adherence to applicable government, industry, and corporate procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed position surveys to establish accurate artillery unit locations; utilize surveying equipment to set precise coordinates and maintain survey records.
  • Compute fire direction using software, specialized tools, and manual methods; incorporate target coordinates, terrain, weather, and observer reports to produce firing data and commands.
  • Perform advanced mathematical calculations (trigonometry, calculus, ballistic and trajectory analysis); verify computations to eliminate error and ensure safety.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain fire control and survey equipment; prepare systems for movement and operations; ensure full functionality and readiness.
  • Determine measurement tolerances based on equipment specifications; use physical dimensional reference standards to ensure traceability.
  • Identify, define, and resolve calibration problems; evaluate alternative actions and implement corrective measures.
  • Apply computer programming routines to configure and adjust equipment operating parameters.
  • Execute preventive maintenance, routine testing, authorized minor repairs; maintain accurate maintenance records to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Troubleshoot and repair new systems during operational tests; refine procedures to address unforeseen defects.
  • Operate and maintain all equipment in compliance with established safety rules, PPE requirements, and regulatory protocols.
  • Meet quality standards and complete assignments within established timelines.
  • Communicate clearly, document work, and collaborate effectively in a team environment; exercise independent judgment to solve complex technical problems.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum: High school diploma or GED.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fire control systems, survey methods, and artillery fire direction.
  • Prior experience with range control systems and related software.
  • Proven ability to perform complex mathematical and ballistic computations with high accuracy.
  • Minimum 5-7 years performing fire direction computations, survey operations, calibration, and preventive maintenance on fire control equipment.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal

Additional Information

  • Travel may be required on occasion to support field operations or government inspection activities.

Benefits

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Fire Control Specialist: $DOE

Pay commensurate with experience.
