Civil Engineer
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks a Civil Engineer to perform structural design, modification, and review work for US and Host Nation funded projects in Okinawa Island, Japan.
Performs civil/structural design, modifications and review work for various types of United States and Host Nation funded projects.
Performs civil/structural design work, including design analysis and contract plans and specifications and any subsequent modifications or change orders.
Receives, distributes for action, tracks, and performs review, when appropriate, of Japanese standards/products submittals.
Serves the staff elements of the District and other agency staff elements as a consultant and expert in civil/structural engineering problems involving design, construction, and operations.
Requirements
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Professional registration as Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE), or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11, including preparing engineering specification plans, conducting technical reviews, and ensuring compliance with standards.
- Time in Grade: 52 weeks of Federal service at GS-11 or equivalent.

Conditions of Employment
- This position requires a 1-year probationary period.
- Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area.
- Initial overseas tour is 24 months.
- Defense National Relocation Program will not be authorized.
- Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is authorized.
- Selectees may receive foreign area benefits such as Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters.
- Drug test not required.
- Security clearance not required.
- Telework eligible.
